The
Prezzi program is used as a bridge platform between linear and nonlinear
information, and, as a presentation tool for the exchange of ideas, either free
or structured, text, images, videos, and, other, media, are placed on the
canvas, and can be grouped into frames. Afterwards, users designate the size,
the position between all the objects in the presentation and how they will be
moved creating a mental map. For linear presentation users can construct a
prescribed navigation route. The final presentations can be displayed in a web
browser window or embedded the presentation into other websites and blogs.
From
the educational point of view, Prezzi facilitates many alternatives when
explaining concepts and creating schemes to focus the student's attention
through visual stimuli. We must also take into account the pedagogical use we
can make of it at any age, it can help us educationally so that our students
develop skills through the use of this program, such as the improvement of the
synthesis capacity, the increase of creativity, which are easier to expose face
to the public, and of course the improvement of ICT control.
Currently,
Prezi is having great success when teachers and students present their classes,
jobs, exhibitions before the rest of the class, since it is a simple way to
advance in the incessant technological advance in which we see ourselves
submerged.
In
the Active section of educational resources of the BBC, we can find an article
in which the author talks about the advantages that Prezi offers when
developing educational material for visual learning and the organization of it.
1.
Prezi creates a visual impact. It allows you to import images, maps and PDF
files and use them as a canvas. With the cinematic experience of the zoom
function, students will feel as if they are transported in a "world"
that you have designed.
2.
Prezi offers more freedom of navigation.
Prezi can be kept in the public domain and, therefore, allows students
to access from the Internet.
3.
Prezi is a great tool for interactive sessions or group projects. Students can
collaborate in real time, in the classroom or at home, to exchange ideas and
build the presentation.
4.
You can transfer the contents of the PowerPoint to Prezi with the
"PowerPoint Import" function.
In
addition to the benefits mentioned above, Prezi offers a free educational
subscription (just use an email address that clearly belongs to your
educational institution).
We
propose the creation of short stories through this tool, given that we think it
can be an alternative way for teachers to reach their students and improve
their creative capacity, synthesis and critical spirit. The activity that we
propose is the creation of a classic story that we all know but framed in the
current time and even modifying nuances of the general history. In our case, we
have chosen to give it a gender approach different from the original one.
The
story must be told and displayed using the Prezi application, it can be through
photos taken by themselves, or through recordings or by gathering the different
forms of communication that they believe are convenient.
The
example that we have made is based on the classic story of Cinderella, but in
our case it is '' El cenizo '' and the whole story is developed today and
dealing with the problems that we can find on a daily basis, We have also
chosen to tell the story through photos taken by ourselves and with voice-over
recordings that are reproduced at the same time as the photos, narrating this
way, the development of the story.
To
finish we can say that Prezi is a good and new alternative in education and its
successful use can benefit us in the treatment of specific topics in the
classroom as well as the improvement on the part of our students in the
handling of new technologies and development. of infinitude of capacities.
